Travel Health: Are You Prepared for Your Trip?
Planning a trip abroad? The right preparation can prevent serious illness and ensure you come home healthy.
Travel Health: Are You Prepared for Your Trip?
Travelling is one of life's great pleasures, but different destinations carry different health risks. A little preparation before you go can make a big difference to your health and enjoyment.
Why See a Travel Health Doctor?
NHS travel health services have become increasingly stretched and inconsistent. A private travel health consultation ensures you get personalised, up-to-date advice from a clinician who will take the time to understand your itinerary, your health history, and your specific risks.
What We Cover
Vaccinations: we'll advise on which vaccines are recommended or required for your destination. Commonly needed vaccines include hepatitis A and B, typhoid, yellow fever, rabies, and meningitis, depending on where you're going.
Malaria prevention: if you're travelling to a malaria endemic area, we'll recommend the right prophylaxis for your route and circumstances.
Travellers' diarrhoea: we can prescribe standby antibiotics and advise on prevention.
Altitude sickness: if you're trekking at altitude, we can prescribe prophylactic medication.
Pre-existing conditions: we'll help you plan around any existing health conditions, including medication supply, medical equipment, and what to do if you become unwell abroad.
When to Book
Ideally, book your travel health appointment at least 6 to 8 weeks before departure, as some vaccine courses require multiple doses. However, we can still help with last minute trips, contact us to discuss.
What's Included
Our travel advice appointment (£110) includes your consultation and any prescriptions. Vaccines are charged separately at cost.
